Just got this today.
After first listen, I can't decide if it's completely pretentious and Matt Bellamy has gone up his own arse, or if it's genius.
There are some great performances and orchestral stuff on there.
Hmmmm. At least in these days of throw away music, someone is making something interesting.
More listening needed I fancy

And is it just me, or does the start of track1 sound like Suzi Quattro, and Track 7 sound like the theme to Treasure Hunt?

I saw the Muse live concert on BBC red button and the hole thing sounded like a queen cover band
Haven't listened to the hole album yet, but not sure about it on first listen _________________ Crank up the Mic - its all gonna blow............. |

I saw that Muse concert and was unimpressed too.
The album sounds better, but they've definitely gone for the big orchestral thing rather than rock _________________

The new Muse album is a crushing disappointment and is a great example of a band drunk on its own importance disappearing up its collective ‘Supermassive Black Hole’……
The new AIC album *is* the perfect remedy however… _________________ Just passing through. . . . . |

The problem for me with the new Muse album - having heard it a few times now - is there are too many ideas that I've heard on there before.
The theme to Dr Who, Suzi Quattro intros, Treasure hunt theme, but also their own ideas. I keep hearing bits of other songs in there.
I think the peak of the band was Absolution and changes in style like on Black Holes and now Resistance are keeping the interest up but not really giving us anything new on the songwriting front.
AIC - I prefer to wait for the cd to be released and listen to it on a good quality uncompressed format. Looking forward to it though Are you going to see them Graham? _________________

Nah - just cant 'get up' for travelling to see bands anymore. I could have went to see 'Steel Panther' last week with Foalle but didnt have the leave or the cash.
If AIC played Newcastle I'd be there like a 'dog at broth' - but they aint. _________________ Just passing through. . . . . |

Exogenesis pt 2 - 15 secs in....its the into to .....'Emmerdale!!!!'
And 'I belong to you' - is possibly to worst song i've ever heard - I'm not joking! - Clarinet solos? Oh dear....
Still i love 'Uprising' - vintage Muse. _________________ Just passing through. . . . . |

Haven't managed to get that far through Exo bollocks yet, but I don't doubt that the Emmerdale is in there _________________

The new AIC album is fantastic, and I'm only half way through.
And you're correct about Emmerdale
